NEWTOWN ST BOSWELLS & DISTRICT FARMERS SHOW

The Newtown St Boswells and District Farmers Show took place at St Boswells Auction Mart on Saturday 18th July, when the sun shone and a good day was had by all.
The supreme of the show judged by Mrs Gillian McCowan, went to the Retrained Racehorse champion, the 10 year old, Little Les, with the Champion in the Children’s Showing Section, Goyffos Red, in reserve.
Douglas Crawford judged the Ridden Hunters and his Champion was Silverinho, ridden by Daisy Job.
Brian Storey placed the In Hand Hunters and chose the winner of the three year old class as his Champion, Dunraven Miss Diamond owned by Dominique Beer. Reserve was Marion Sturrock’s, O’Fon Drago.
Riding Horses were introduced this year and Richard Telford won on Lindsay McCulloch’s Faside Grande Bretagne. Victoria Picton rode Slaney Valley to victory in the Cobs.
Training Stakes classes proved very popular. They are similar to working hunter pony classes but no mark is awarded for conformation. Judges, Heather Metcalf and Holly Olivia Cousens, selected Jodie Barrie riding Bellindene Islay, as their Champion.
Charlie Cousens had a busy day judging the Mountain & Moorlands, Veterans and Coloureds and was rewarded with some good classes.
Emma Brown and Liath took the Championship in the Mountain & Moorland Section. Reserve was Huntshaw Imogen, owned by Fiona Steel.
The Coloured Section Champion went to Suzie Claydon with Red Allert, the winner of the In Hand Section.
Buccaneer Bay, partnered by Stephenie Robson was Champion in the Veteran Section with Travellers Gold in reserve.
The Retrained Racehorse Champion went to the Ridden winner, Little Les, partnered by Ellie Meldrum. Reserve, was the winner of the in hand, Dance With The Wind, owned by Elspeth Adam.
Winners in the Show Jumping were Annabel Gerber, Virginia Burbridge, Emily Maitland-Carew, Victoria Cuthbert and Helen Ker.
The Children’s Section was well filled and in the Games Georgie Tait, Indie Shirley-Beavan and Abigail Aitchison won their sections. The Showing Champion was Aria Burgon on Goyffos Red with Olivia Douglas on Mouse, Reserve.
Champion in the Sheep Section went to a pair of Texel Gimmers owned by Adam Anderson ahead of a North Country Cheviot Ewe owned by Scott Davies . The winner of the Young Handlers was Isla Sandilands with Mac Hogg, runner up.
