Karen Fotheringham’s Traditional Cob, Travellers Gold, takes the supreme at St Boswells Show.
The Newtown St Boswells and District Farmers Show took place at St Boswells Auction Mart on Saturday 19th July, when despite some heavy showers a good day was had by all.
The supreme of the show judged by Mr Nigel Murray, went to the Coloured champion, the 16 year old, Travellers Gold, with Retrained Racehorse Champion, Our Jerry in reserve.
Charlotte Dun judged the Ridden Hunters and her Champion was Meadow Gate, ridden by Victoria Picton.
Alan Thomson placed the In Hand Hunters and chose the winner of the two year old class as his Champion, Woodlands Domino owned by John Wilson. Reserve was Sandy Mcmorrran’s, Derig Highlander.
Training Stakes classes proved very popular. They are similar to working hunter pony classes but no mark is awarded for conformation. Judges, Lisa Ogilvie and Holly Stewart, selected Emma Brown riding Liath, as their Champion.
Fiona Stewart had a busy day judging the Mountain & Moorlands, Veterans and Coloureds and was rewarded with some good classes.
It was a red letter day for Emma Brown and Liath as they took the Championship in the Mountain & Moorland Section. Reserve was Wedderlie Marconi, owned by Marion Tilson and produced by Emma Brown.
The Coloured Section Champion went to Karen Fotheringham, on Travellers Gold, the winner of the Ridden Section.
Silver Dream Spirit, partnered by Polly Cregan was champion in the Veteran Section with Sound Barrier in reserve, incidentally the same result as in 2024.
The Retrained Racehorse Champion went to the Ridden winner, Our Jerry, partnered by Douglas Crawford for Rachel Davidson. Reserve, was the winner of the in hand, Millarville, owned by Elspeth Adam.
Winners in the Show Jumping were Annabel Gerber, Olivia Catlin, Lisa Reid, Victoria Cuthbert and Kirsty Stark.
The Children’s Section was well filled and in the Games Coco Shirley-Beavan, Annable Weir, Sophie Kay and Beth Dun won their sections. The Showing Champion was four year old, Charlotte Kay, on Dukeshill Milkyway with Ella Hodgson on Summer, Reserve
Champion in the Sheep Section went to a pair of Texel Ewe Lambs owned by Grant Maxwell ahead of a North Country Cheviot Ewe owned by Alan Cowens . The winner of the Young Handlers was Michael Neill with Brooke Hedley, runner up.
